The Quy Nhon City People’s Council opened the 17th session on December 15, focusing on the implementation of the 2010’s socio-economic tasks and the 2011’s plans.
The reports stated that the city’s total GDP was estimated to increase by 13.9 percent in 2010 while the budget revenue attained over 117 percent of the yearly target, a surge of 34 percent against 2009.
The city’s economy has gradually recovered, showing signs of growth whilst the social welfare, national defense, and public order are under control.
However, Quy Nhon still sees some shortcomings. The economic development, for example, hasn’t proved sustainable and some key targets fell short of expectations.
According to the 2011’s targets set by the municipal People’s Committee, the city’s GDP will go up 14.5 percent, the total budget revenue will reach over VND1 trillion, and the rate of poor households will annually reduce by 1 percent.
The session is scheduled to last until December 17.
