Workshop on cancer prevention held

A workshop on cancer prevention, jointly held by the province’s Department of Health and Management Board for cancer prevention program, took place in Quy Nhon on December 28.

The workshop is aimed at providing the information about cancer and related programs for more than 200 representatives of functional bodies.

4,949 patients with cancer were hospitalized from 2007-2009, according to the report presented by Binh Dinh General Hospital. There were 1,139 cases in 2007 and the figure was 1,603 in 2008. Last year saw 2,207 cases.

A cancer prevention program has been implemented this year. Many activities were carried out at the province’s reproductive health center and Binh Dinh General Hospital.

At the workshop, the participants suggested some programs for the cancer prevention in the coming time, such as carrying out different surveys, promoting communications activities and socializing the cancer prevention in the community.
