Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien on March 10 held a meeting with the province’s Department of Industry and Trade and Forest Products Association of Binh Dinh (FPA Binh Dinh).
The province’s wood processing sector had an average growth of 58 percent per year during the 2001-2005 period and the annual export turnover growth hit nearly 22 percent, according to the reports released by the Department of Industry and Trade.
However, the figures have reached only 5.8 percent and 7 percent, respectively in the 2006-2010 period. One of the main reasons is that most businesses focused on outdoor wooden furniture, which was seriously affected by the inflation, interest rate, and exchange rate fluctuations.
Businesses, therefore, need to pay more attention to indoor wooden furniture which is expected to have high economic effectiveness, according to the Department of Industry and Trade and FPA Binh Dinh.
Thien said wood processing enterprises must work out plans to produce indoor wooden furniture. The province’s Industry and Trade Department was assigned to build an “e-transaction floor for wooden products made in Binh Dinh”.
Also, FPA Binh Dinh was also asked to build a showroom displaying wooden products made in Binh Dinh. The provincial Chairman asked relevant bodies to support the manpower training for the indoor wooden furniture production.
