Secretary of the Binh Dinh provincial Party Committee Vu Hoang Ha and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thien held a meeting with the visiting delegation from Champassak province led by its Party Committee Secretary, Sukan Mahalat, on March 15.

Two sides talked about the areas of cooperation for the 2011-2015 period. Accordingly, the central province of Binh Dinh and Laos ’s Champassak province will speed up cooperation in goods transport, strengthen trading activities and promoting tours.

Since Binh Dinh and Champassak provinces set up cooperative relations in 2002, their join efforts have been progressing well in various fields, especially socio-economics and culture.

In the agricultural sector, Binh Dinh province has provided veterinary equipment, coconut palms and breeding pigs for Champassak and trained Laotian workers in in-vitro fertilisation techniques.

Regarding cooperation on education and health, Binh Dinh province granted 44 scholarships to Champassak students to study at Quy Nhon University and provided short-term training courses for six of the Lao province’s health workers. Champassak, in return, trained 11 Vietnamese officials in the Lao language.
