Provincial Vice Chairwoman receives Ford Foundation, VNAH’s leaders
14:48', 23/5/ 2010 (GMT+7)

Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh received Charles Bailey, director of Ford Foundation in Vietnam and Tran Van Ca, President of the Vietnam Assistance for the Handicapped (VNAH), on May 21.

Participants talked about the “Supporting the disabled and victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin” project co-sponsored by the Ford Foundation and VNAH.

The project worth 174,000 USD has been implemented in 10 communes of Phu Cat district since January, 2009.

Under the project, the Cat Tan Rehabilitation Center was newly built, the Cat Hung Rehabilitation Center was also upgraded, and a kindergarten for disabled children was built in Cat Hanh commune, let alone the support for disabled people to repair their house and attend vocational training courses.

Binh stressed that the project not only helps rehabilitate disabled people but create favourable conditions for them to overcome difficulties.

She also expressed the hope that the sponsors will implement the project in the remaining localities for there are still more than 63,000 disabled people in Binh Dinh.

Mr. Charles Bailey promised to open four rehabilitation centers and 10 kindergartens for disabled children in Phu Cat district in the coming time.
