US hospital ship berths in Quy Nhon

The US Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy and the Japanese dock landing ship JDS Kunisaki with 800 and 200 crew members aboard respectively berthed in Quy Nhon City in the central province of Binh Dinh May 31.

The visit is aimed at conducting humanitarian activities, which is part of Pacific Partnership 2010.

The crew will work with their Vietnamese colleagues and officers of non-government organizations to set up mobile general health and dental clinics to provide diagnosis and treatment to local people in around 13 days.

They will also help implement technical projects as requested by the local authorities and exchange medical knowledge and experiences with local doctors.
