Taking advantages of favorable weather, Binh Dinh’s fishmen have gathered their strength and resources to promote aggressive aquatic exploitation and fishing since early this year, said Mai Kim Thi, Deputy Head of the Binh Dinh Province Department of Aquatic Resources Exploitation and Protection.

They have harvested a quite high yield of seafood.  The province’s total seafood exploitation output now reaches 56,000 tones, up 12% against the same period last year, of which tuna makes up 3,000 tones of the total output. Its price is stable at 100,000-200,000 VND/kg (2,4 -4,8 USD/pound). Each tuna fishing boat gains an average of 150-200 million VND (7.900 -10.542 USD) profit each time of go fishing.

At present, the province’s fishing fleet has 8,000 boats with total power of 310 CV, comprised of 950 offshore-fishing boats which specialize in tuna and cuttle fishing.
