Province’s leader receives USNS Mercy, Kunisaki’s captains

Vice Chairwoman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh received the commodore of the hospital ship USNS Mercy, Lisa M. Franchetti, and the captain of the Japanese dock landing ship JDS Kunisaki, Shunya Sasaki, on June 1.

They have arrived in Binh Dinh for the humanitarian mission, as a part of Pacific Partnership 2010 (PP10).

PP10 is the fifth in a series of annual U.S. Pacific Fleet humanitarian and civic assistance endeavors aimed at strengthening regional partnerships and increasing interoperability with host nations, partner nations, U.S. interagency groups, and international humanitarian and relief organizations, according to Ms Lisa M. Franchetti.

They are pleased with the province’s cooperation in implementing medical, construction and engineering projects. Two sides pledged to make all-out effort to effectively carry out the PP10 program.
