A new five in one vaccine will be available free-of-charge for children under the age of one as part of the National Expanded Programme on Immunisation in 6 districts of Tuy Phuoc, An Nhon, Hoai Nhon, Phu Cat, Phu My, and Tay Son from June 25 to 30, the province’s Preventive Health Center announced.

The Immunisation Program using the 5-in-1 vaccine will be carried out across the province since July.

About 75.079 doses of the new five in one vaccine will be required for 21,887 children under one in the province this year.

The vaccine, which protects against the five diseases of diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B and haemophilus influenza type B, has been supplied by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

In 2008, the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation contributed 36 million USD to help Vietnam bring the new vaccine into its vaccination programme over 2010 and 2011.
