The province’s Steering Board on Diseases Prevention carried out a large-scale exercise on a potential human avian influenza pandemic in Phu Cat district’s Cat Trinh commune on September 4.

The exercise aimed at looking at what the province’s Steering Board on Diseases Prevention do to reinforce safeguards to prevent an epidemic and how well the health workers and emergency services would cope with the disease in order to minimize human losses.

During the rehearsal, outbreaks of avian influenza A (H5N1) were supposedly discovered in some households in Cat Trinh commune’s Phong An hamlet with mass death of livestocks.

The exercise focused on the mechanism for administration, barrier establishment to isolate outbreaks, mobile checkpoints for quarantines, first aid, and other issues.
