Binh Dinh selected to join agriculture insurance

The Ministry of Finance on September 8 announced the PM’s decision on the pilot agriculture insurance program for the 2011-2013 period, reported Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper on September 8.

Accordingly, poor farmers among the programme’s beneficiaries would enjoy 90-100 percent free insurance fee. Those households and individuals who aren’t classified as “poor” would be offered 60-70 percent free insurance fee. Agricultural businesses would be supported with 50 percent of insurance fee.

The provinces selected to join the insurance programme for rice include Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Binh Thuan, An Giang and Dong Thap.

Binh Dinh and other provinces and cities of Bac Ninh, Nghe An, Dong Nai, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Binh Duong and Ha Noi would enjoy livestock insurance policies which cover losses from cattle, pig and poultry epidemic diseases.

The pilot programme would start in 2011 and last until 2013.
