After 6 consecutive days of competition with performances of 400 actors, actresses and musicians from 12 non-professional Tuong (classical drama) troupes all over Binh Dinh province, the 7th provincial non-professional Tuong festival ended in September 29 evening.
The festival attracted a lot of Tuong lovers from Quy Nhon city and nearby districts. Its quality was better than previous festivals, said board of examiners. The 12 troupes focused on typical traditional plays. Play arrangement and artist performance conformed to required rules of the traditional classical drama.
The festival saw progresses of the artists at the age of 35-45, who were able to replace older artists in playing roles of main female and male characters.
30 A prizes, 26 B prizes and 9 C prizes were awarded to the artists.
6 A prizes were awarded to troupes of Tran Quang Dieu (from Quy Nhon city), Sao Mai (from Binh Dinh Cultural Centre), Phuoc An and Anh Duong (from Tuy Phuoc district), An Nhon 2 and Nhon Hung (from An Nhon district).
6 B prizes were awarded to troupes of Truong An 1 (from Hoai Nhon district), Suoi Tre (from Phu Cat district), An Nhon 1 (from An Nhon district), Tuy Phuoc (from Tuy Phuoc district), Song Kon (from Vinh Thanh district) and Tay Son (from Tay Son district).
In addition, the board of examiners also gave prizes to the 3 most excellent musicians, to the oldest artist and promising artists.
