HIV/AIDS infection rate kept under 0.2% in community

This is the goal set by the 2012 National Target Programme on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control in Binh Dinh, which has been just approved by Binh Dinh People’s Committee.

60% of people at the age of 15-49 should understand properly about HIV/AIDS preventive measures; 1,000 people will be counselled to take voluntary HIV tests; coverage of intervention programmes to keep HIV infection rates among drug addicts under 20% and among prostitutes under 3% will be expanded; quality of treatment and care for people with HIV will be improved; annual death toll will be reduced.

The 2012 National Target Programme on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control in Binh Dinh prioritizes following activities: provision of more information, education services and communication to change people’s behaviours; enhancement of intervention measures on bad effects of HIV/AIDS infection; counselling, care and treatment for people with HIV/AIDS and prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission; capacity building on the programme management, follow-up, supervision and evaluation.
