Binh Dinh Department of Education and Training has just announced outcomes of the provincial Internet-based math problem solving contest in the school year of 2010-2011.
595 pupils from 1st to 9th classes participated in the contest on August 20. 206 of 376 primary pupils who took part in the competition are winners, accounting for 54%. 65 out of 219 secondary pupils win prizes, making up 29%.
The 2nd classes have the highest number of winners (42/69 participants, 60.8%) with 2 first prizes, 12 second prizes, 16 third prizes and 12 consolation prizes. The 8th classes have the lowest number of winners (7/42, 16.7%) with 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 1 third prize and 3 consolation prizes.
To the 5th and 9th classes, as soon as the contest’s results were announced, the provincial Department of Education and Training selected 40 pupils at the 5th class and 20 pupils at the 9th class who made the highest scores to take part in the national online math contest on August 27.
The two teams finally won 10 gold prizes and 16 silver prizes. Notably, the 9th class team of Binh Dinh got the greatest number of the gold prizes and had the largest number of winners.
