The Legal Department of Binh Dinh People’s Council on November 1 supervised execution of legal policies on compensation and resettlement at Nhon Hoi Economic Zone at two communes of Cat Tien and Cat Chanh, Phu Cat district.
Cat Tien had 3 projects at the Nhon Hoi EZ, including project on T24 intersection building – part of already-built key road to the EZ, project on Cat Tien resettlement building (7 households haven’t received compensation), project on religious work building.
The 7 households affected by the second project hadn’t received the compensation because the amounts of compensated money were low. The third project was slow in its progress rate, negatively affecting the local people’s life, said Cat Tien People’s Committee.
Cat Chanh also had 3 projects, comprising of project on construction of Phuong Mai 3 Wind Power Plant over an area of 120 hectares (the land was available in 2010), project on construction of Phuong Mai 1 Wind Power Plant over an area of 119 hectares (the land was available in 2011), and project on construction of a Northern luxurious resort at Section 2 of Nhon Ly-Trung Luong coastal tourist area.
Some local households affected by the plan of Nhon Hoi EZ establishment complained about the fact that they weren’t allowed to repair their houses though there hadn’t investment projects there.
The supervisor team asked the two committees to actively cooperate with Nhon Hoi EZ Management Board in solving the compensation and resettlement problems, putting harmonious interests of relevant stakeholders into consideration, meeting legitimate demands of the local people while determinedly punishing cases of purposefully illegal house construction.
