Binh Dinh Department of Foreign Affairs to established
13:57', 16/12/ 2011 (GMT+7)

In its 3rd session, the 11th Binh Dinh People’s Council has just approved a resolution on establishment of Binh Dinh Department of Foreign Affairs. The organization is expected to help Binh Dinh People’s Committee to perform its administrative management of foreign affairs, satisfying the provincial growing demand of diplomatic development.

In the past few years, Binh Dinh has been actively expanding its international cooperation, particularly in field of economics, to make the best of its advantages and boost its socio-economic development. The province now has 43 FDI projects with total registered investment of  671.358 million USD. In addition, Binh Dinh has welcomed and implemented ODA projects. Concerning the international cooperation, Binh Dinh has been implementing programmes of cooperation with Laos’ southern provinces, and expanding relationships with other countries. Number of foreign delegations to Binh Dinh as well as overseas visits of the provincial authorities are increasing.

Binh Dinh People’s Committee believes that the diplomatic achievements haven’t met new demand of the bustling renovation and international integration although they are basically satisfactory. Hence, it is necessary to set up the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs.

The department will be established on basis of Foreign Affairs Office under the provincial People’s Committee Office. It will act as an advisor for the provincial People’s Committee in foreign affairs all over the province; help the committee to deal with public services within its authority and perform other tasks according to mandate of the committee and legal rules. Its responsibilities are to organize and manage overseas trips of the provincial authorities and visits of the international guest delegations to Binh Dinh; solve foreign affairs, consular affairs and other issues related to the overseas Vietnamese.
