National bai choi festival closes

The 2011 national bai choi festival closed in Quy Nhon city yesterday (Apr. 8). The closing ceremony was held at the provincial Cultural Centre with the participation of some leaders and many artists.

Three bai choi troupes coming from Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, and Khanh Hoa joined the festival with six plays. At the closing ceremony, 27 participating artists were presented with 10 gold and 17 silver medals.

Also, there were two orchestras honored for their contributions to the preservation of the art of bai choi.

10 artists of Binh Dinh bai choi troupe received 4 gold and 6 silver medals.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Le Tien Tho affirmed that all bai choi troupes and artists must try to preserve and uphold the art of bai choi despite any difficulties.

The Bureau of Art Performances need to coordinate with relevant bodies to propose the strategies for artist training and preferential policies for bai choi artists after the festival, he added.
