Industry – trade sector celebrates 60th anniversary

A ceremony was held in Quy Nhon on May 14, celebrating the 60th anniversary of Vietnam industry and trade sector.

The participants recalled the tradition of the sector in the past 60 years. On May 14, 1951, President Ho Chi Minh signed a decree to change the name of the Ministry of Economics to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The date was made the sector’s traditional anniversary.

Binh Dinh industry and trade sector has become one of the key industries since the Liberation Day. The province’s industrial production earned over VND6 trillion last year, a rise of 14 percent over 2009. Its products are now exported to 72 countries and territories.

The province’s sector has been honored for many times during the past 60 years.

On the occasion, it was presented with the third Independence Order. Also, many outstanding people were honored for their contributions to the sector.
