Career consultation in Quy Nhon

Intel, Dell and Yahoo! Vietnam will tie up with local firms to provide a series of career path guide programmes for Vietnamese students.

The move is aimed at providing students with chances to directly meet with employees as well as equip them with skills for their job seeking after graduation. The counselling will focus on career guidance from the application and recruitment process to practical training.

The programmes will be held from May 12 to June 23 in the cities of Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Da Nang and Can Tho.

Intel, Dell and Yahoo! Vietnam, as well as local companies, will provide human resource experts and successful professionals in their fields.

One part, entitled “Career Path Guide and Consultation”, has already been held in Quy Nhon, on May 12. Similar programmes will be held in Nha Trang on May 19, Da Nang on May 28 and Can Tho on June 12.

According to a survey conducted by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, 52.6% of students do not have post-graduation job seeking plans.

Up to 46.3% of surveyed students have not yet made any inquiry into future employment, while 44.8% of have no idea as to what their future careers might be.

The survey also indicated that one of the biggest weaknesses of recent graduates is a lack of practical experience.
