800 million VND for dredging entrance lanes to Tam Quan Bac fishing port
20:39', 29/5/ 2011 (GMT+7)

Entrance lanes to Tam Quan Bac Fishing Port at Hoai Nhon sub-urban district have been become shallow due to increasing alluvial sand over the past several years; hindering travelling of boats.

800 million VND will be invested in dredging the lanes, ensuring safe traffic of the boats, said Vice Chairman of Tam Quan Bac commune People’s Committee, Pham Ngoc Bao. Part of the stated amount comes from budget of the province, district and commune. The local fishermen contribute the rest.

11,500 cubic metres of alluvial sand has been dredged since the beginning of this month.

The dredging work, however, is just a temporary remedy, says the local government. A feasible long-term solution should be found out for the more and more serious problem.
