A number of children diagnosed with encephalitis have risen since mid-May, according to doctor Pham Van Dung.
10 primary school-age children with encephalitis have been hospitalized at Binh Dinh General Hospital since early this year. Most of patients lost their consciousness and convulsions when transferred to hospital, said Dung.
Five severe encephalitis cases are under treatment at the hospital, including deep coma cases. If surviving the potentially fatal diseases, these children could suffer long-term complications to their nervous system.
The outbreak of encephalitis often happens in May and June and will end in September.
