Alliance of sustainable mango production and sale opens

An opening ceremony of Phu Cat sweet mango sustainable production and sale alliance between Nam Viet Agricultural and Forest Product Co., Ltd and Cat Hanh 2 Agricultural Cooperative took place on June 22, at Cat Hanh commune, Phu Cat district, under co-organization of Management Board of Binh Dinh Agriculture Competitiveness Project and People’s Committee of Cat Hanh commune.

The alliance had total investment of over 7,504 billion VND, in which the company contributed more than 808 million VND, the cooperative covered more than 4.333 billion VND and the project financed over 2.326 billion VND.

The company would have to transfer technology of mango production which met Vietnamese standards to local farmers and purchase the fruits with higher prices than in the markets at buying time. The cooperative had 50 household members with 105.3 hectares of mango cultivation area, 1 crop/year, and 6.9 tonnes/hectare. The alliance operated from June 2011 to June 2013.
