Start experiment of sturgeon fish farming in Binh Dinh

Vietnam Sturgeon Fish Co., Ltd. has implemented a project of sturgeon fish farming at Vinh Son hydroelectric lake (Vinh Thanh district, Binh Dinh province) since mid May. More than 3,000 breeding sturgeon fish at weight of 30grams have been raised in 2 enclosures as an experiment. The company will raise other 180.000 breeding sturgeon fish at Vinh Son hydroelectric lake by this August with aim to study on adaptation of the species to the local habitat.

Total area of the sturgeon fish farm at Vinh Son hydroelectric lake is 21.5 hectares, including a 15-hectare area for commercial sturgeon fish raising and the rest 6.5-hectare area for breeding fish raising, creating new variety of cross-breeding fish, hatching larvae, processing the fish eggs and fish products for exports.

The breeding sturgeon fish were imported from Russia. It has great economic value with large export markets. The sturgeon fish farming is expected to offer new potential developments of the provincial aquaculture.
