The Association for the support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans (ASVHO) organized an online meeting on preliminary wrap-up report of assignment in the first 6 months of 2011 and direction of work in the rest 6 months on July 7.
Binh Dinh Province Association for the support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans and associations from other 37 cities/provinces joined the meeting.
During the last 6 months, 34/41 associations has raised funds of 60.8 bln VND, accounting for 86.7% of the whole year target. The associations have spent 56.5 bln VND for donation activities through material gifts and cash rewards.
Binh Dinh Association alone raised fund of 751 mln VND; financed reconstructive facial operation costs for 58 children; covered orthopedic surgeries for 83 children; partly paid for heart operations for 22 children with innate heart diseases.
The meeting focused on discussing results of the income generation program for the disabled people and orphaned children in the 2008-2010 period and proposed certain solutions for better implementation of the program at communes under a pilot project of promoting new rural development.
Binh Dinh Association has been collaborating with government of Hoai Huong commune, Hoai Nhon district in working out detail plan for the implementation here.
