Boost up rice production, provide more rice varieties for local governments

Since 2008, Binh Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has collaborated with people’s committees of districts and Quy Nhon city in guiding timely rice production and rice variety provision of Binh Dinh Centre for Plant Varieties and agricultural co-operatives for the localities.

A provincial network of the rice production and rice variety provision has taken form. It comprises the centre and 186 cooperatives which produce grade I rice varieties. 11 organizations are given codes of rice variety production. Thus, total rice crop areas using the grade I varieties reach over 95 percent.

Every year, the centre and the cooperatives produce and provide rice varieties for localities inside and outside Binh Dinh, buy 306 tonnes of purebred rice varieties, 720 tonnes of certified rice varieties, 270 tonnes of cross-bred rice varieties, etc., satisfactorily meet demands of the local people.
