Binh Dinh has 1,651 offshore fishing vessels

Binh Dinh People’s Committee has just ratified a list of Binh Dinh offshore registered fishing vessels.

The province has now total 1,651 fishing vessels which are approved for the offshore sea product exploitation. Hoai Nhon district has the largest fleet with 989 vessels. Districts of Phu My, Phu Cat and Quy Nhon city come next with respectively 347 vessels, 208 and 107 vessels.

They mainly practice deep-sea fishery, tuna catching, cuttle-fish catching, deep-sea trawling, deep-sea seigning, deep-sea trek netting and offshore exploitation service provision.

Many policies of support for the fishermen in their offshore fishing have been so far issued in order to assist fishermen to have stable income and “stick to the sea”.

They include fuel subsidies for fishing trips, payment of hull insurances and accident insurances for fishing crew, installation of GPS integrated long-range high frequency radio communication equipments for the fishing vessels.
