Training on “hands-on” (La main à la pâte) French method of teaching
14:17', 11/8/ 2011 (GMT+7)

A training course on “hands-on” (La main à la pâte) French method of teaching was opened on August 9 at Le Hong Phong Secondary School, Quy Nhon city under co-organization of Binh Dinh Department of Education & Training and the Association “Rencontres du Vietnam”.

Learners of the training course are 60 officials of primary and secondary education, key teachers from 11 districts and Quy Nhon city, from Quy Nhon-based Hope Specialized School.

In the 3-day course (from August 9-11), the learners are being introduced about the method which has been employed at schools in France, and then instructed to apply the method in Vietnamese classes.

The training course aims to help the learners access the “La main à la pâte” method, apply it in their teaching of natural sciences at the primary and secondary schools as pilot experiment before the method is introduced into new education program and new textbooks.

“La main à la pâte” was drafted and introduced by the French Academy of Sciences in 1998. It recommends that teachers should let pupils explore phenomena around them and then help them figure out themselves through experimental researches on their own. As a result, the pupils develop their deductive and inductive logic as researchers at very early age.
