A workshop was held at Quy Nhon city on August 11 to evaluate outcomes of 2 projects financed by Global Environment Fund – Small Grant Programme (UNDP- GEF SGP) in Binh Dinh.
The first project named “Minimize impacts of floods and saltwater invasion caused by sea level rise, ensuring sustainable development and food security at Phuoc Hoa commune, Tuy Phuoc district” are being carried out by Binh Dinh Union for Science and Technology. Rice varieties of SH2, DV108 which have been grown over an area of 30 hectares yield 2.2-5 quintals/hectare/crop higher than other control varieties
The second project named “Build up policies to develop community-based sustainable manioc cultivation in Binh Dinh” are being implemented by Binh Dinh Association of Gardeners at 2 communes of Cat Lam and Cat Hiep, Phu Cat district. Model of crop diversification with cassava and peanut gives 25.4-29% higher output of cassava and 1,17-1,39 times higher output of peanuts than other control cultivation method.
Most of the workshop’s participants highly evaluated the results of the two projects in Binh Dinh.
