A preliminary conference on prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in the first 6 months of 2011, and proposed plans for the last 6 months of 2011 was held on August 11 by Binh Dinh Department of Health.
By the end of this year, the anti-HIV/AIDS campaign sets targets of providing ARV treatment for 45 people with HIV; counselling for 65% of pregnant women on HIV tests; monitoring the infectious disease and intervening timely to minimize its transmission through preventive treatment.
The anti-TB program aims to reach 85% of absolute success in treatment for new cases of TB; improve quality of diagnostic tests; push up communication campaigns.
In the first 6 months of 2011, Binh Dinh Hospital for TB and Pulmonary Diseases implemented a project on identification and treatment for TB patients with HIV, for patients with drug-resistant TB; actively identify TB infection cases among high-risk groups who have direct contacts with sources of infection.
Activities of sexually transmitted disease control, of HIV/AIDS care, treatment and mother-to-child prevention were paid much attention.
At the conference, individuals and organizations were awarded certificates of merit by Prime Minister and Ministry of Health on occasion of the 20th anniversary of Vietnam’s fight against HIV/AIDS epidemic.
