19 out of 40 samples of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in Binh Dinh was tested positive with Enterovirus 71, reports from Nha Trang – based Pasteur Institute. 12 samples was from Quy Nhon city and districts of An Nhon, Tuy Phuoc, Hoai An and Van Canh.
Enterovirus 71 is the major causative agents for HFMD. They are very toxic, dangerous and likely causes dead.
As of September 5, Binh Dinh had 202 cases of HFMD, 1 allegedly died of the disease, says Binh Dinh Preventive Health Centre. The reported cases of HFMD have increased all over the province except Vinh Thanh district.
