Over 4 bln VND for farmers to develop production in Van Canh
8:17', 13/9/ 2011 (GMT+7)

Since the beginning of 2011, government of Van Canh district has provided its local poor farmers with over 4.032 billion VND to buy crop plants and animals as ways of developing the local agriculture and husbandry sectors, says Ms. Hoang Thi Nhu Phuong, Chairwoman of Van Canh People’s Committee.  Source of fund is from Program No. 30a/2008/NQ-CP launched by central government.

Of the total spent sum of money, cost for Summer-Autumn crop seed rice is 823 million VND, cost for NPK fertilizers is 1.04 billion VND, cost for breeding pigs is 480 million VND, cost for Japanese sweet potatoes is 80 million VND, for breeding freshwater fish is 100 million VND and for cross-bred cows is 1.419 billion VND.

Thanks to the program, the local farmers enjoy more favourable conditions to develop their production and gain more incomes.

Cross-bred rice all over the district have made up so far 29 percent of the total rice production output while high quality pure-bred rice reaches 100 percent. Average rice output is 46.8 quintals/hectare, 2.1 quintals/hectare higher than the same period last year; epidemics among animals are effectively controlled.
