From the beginning of 2011, more than 2,500 pregnant women all over Binh Dinh province have been offered HIV tests under Programme on mother-to-child HIV transmission prevention, which aims to test 4,000 cases this year.

Among people with HIV/AIDS in Binh Dinh, the mother-to-child transmission cases account for about 1.89 percent, says Binh Dinh Centre for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control. Yet, percentage of pregnant women received HIV tests hasn’t met planned target of 65 percent because of insufficient financial resource for the programme. Consultation for the pregnant women to accept HIV tests at medical facilities is still limited.
