137 hectares of new high-yield sugar cane varieties grown in Van Canh

Since the beginning of 2010, farmers at Van Canh district have grown 137 hectares of sugar cane, say Binh Dinh Sugar Co., Ltd (BISUCO). The farmers are funded with 18 million every hectare to buy seedlings, fertilizers and other costs of caring the plants. The  farmers prefer sugar cane varieties of MI 55-14, K88-92, K88-65, K84-200, R579, etc., which promisingly yield high. In case of good intensive cultivation, they may give output of more than 100 tones per hectare.

Besides, the local farmers also financially assisted by the company with 12 million VND/ha in taking care of old sugar canes. As a result, areas of sugar cane material zone at Van Can are in expanding tendency.
