Thousand-year-old petrified tree stump discovered

Le Van Bay stands next to the thousand-year-old petrified tree stump.

A petrified tree stump was found in depths of 5 meters in Ha Thanh River, the section of river that runs through Canh Vinh Commune, Van Canh District, Binh Dinh Province.

The fossilized stump which has 51 centimeters in height, appromixately 200 kilograms in weight, 52 to 67 centimeters in diameter was unexpectedly found a month ago.

It exposes wood fibers with interesting shapes, and particularly consists of intercalated veins with various colours, Le Van Bay, who owns this petrified stump, said.

According to some stone collectors, it is possible a valuable petrified tree stump thousands of years old.
