On March 24, at Nhon Tho commune, An Nhon district, management board of Agricultural Competitiveness Project in Binh Dinh, Binh Dinh Sugar Cane Joint-stock Co. and Nhon Tho 2 Agricultural Cooperative co-organized a ceremony to unveil an alliance of sustainable sugar cane seed production and trading. The alliance has investment capital of over 7.99 billion VND, in which the enterprise equity accounts for 1.48 billion VND, farmer members contribute over 4.26 billion VND and the project covers more than 2.24 billion VND. The company is responsible to transfer production techniques, management skills to the farmers and buy all the products. The cooperative has 90 household members, cultivating sugar canes over an area of 36 hectares with 3 crops every 2 years. Output of the sugar cane for seed purposes is expected to reach 8,640 tonnes. Duration of the alliance lasts from March 2012 to December 2013.
The establishment of the alliance enables the company and the cooperative to build and develop a sustainable material zone of sugar cane for seed purposes. Turnover of the farmers is expected to increase from 8.55 billion VND to 10.36 billion VND; their net income will be over 1.31 billion VND. Turnover of the company is expected to increase from 4.32 billion VND to more than 11.66 billion VND; profit up 457.4 million VND.
