A 20kg sea tortoise was caught in fishnet of  Mr. Tran Minh Pham (born in 1963 at Ly Luong hamlet, Nhon commune, Quy Nhon city) at 5.45pm Monday (April 1st). Hearing the catch, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Xuan, head of a sea tortoise protection group at Nhon Ly commune met Mr. Pham and advised him to release the animal back his ocean home.

The sea tortoise protection group at Nhon Ly was founded at early 2012 with support from Binh Dinh Department of Aquatic Recourses Exploitation and Protection. Before, a similar group had been established at Nhon Hai commune.

The Nhon Ly – based group was born as sea tortoises preferred to lay eggs at Ly Luong beach every year, said the local people.
