Search and Rescue Committee inspects natural disaster control

On May 7th, a delegation, led by Lieutenant-General Tran Quang Khe, Deputy-Chief of the General Staff, the Standing Deputy-Director of the National Search & Rescue Committee, inspected natural disaster control and search and rescue in 2012, and surveyed the terrain in Tuy Phuoc District and worked with the People’s Committee of Tuy Phuoc District, Binh Dinh Province.

At the meeting with representatives of the People’s Committee of Tuy Phuoc District, the General pointed out the District’s shortcomings in search and rescue and natural disaster control to help the District take suitable measures to control natural disaster and lower the damage caused by natural disaster.

Up to now, the District has carried out disaster control in accordance to “Local command, local forces, local materials and local logistics”, and proactively controlled natural disasters and lowered the damage caused by natural disasters, especially flooding and storms.

Tuy Phuoc Province also gives priority to natural disaster control. Communes and towns in the District were instructed to hold activities to promote and educate local people to be more vigilant during flooding and storm seasons. These communes and towns were also asked to make preparations to cope with and overcome consequences caused by natural disasters.
