The emulation movement “Family practices energy saving - 2012” had just been kicked off in Quy Nhon city, said Mr. Huynh Ngoc Viet, Director of Binh Dinh Electricity Company, on Thursday (May 10).

The movement was an initiative of the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC). It was launched at 6 cities in the Central Region and Highlands of Vietnam, including Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Pleiku, Buon Me Thuot and Quy Nhon.

It aimed to raise people’s awareness of efficient, economical use of energy for sake of national development, turning the awareness into their daily practice. Participants would be households in Quy Nhon who consumes electricity only for domestic purposes, without changing the registered purposes and contracts with Binh Dinh Electricity Company, using the electricity during an uninterrupted period from June 2011 up to this time.

They would be recognized as “Typical family practices energy saving” and rewarded 200,000 VND/household if their consumed energy in 3 months – June, July and August 2012 – was at least 10 percent lower than the same period of last year. The prizes would be awarded by September 22, 2012.
