The province’s consumer price index (CPI) in May increased by 0.17 percent against the previous month, according to the provincial Statistics Department.
The report said the figure surged by 14.14 percent in the first five months of 2012.
Compared to the previous month, three consumption categories saw a reduction, including post and telecommunication (0.68 percent); housing, power, water, fuel (0.64 percent); food and restaurant service (0.5 percent).
The price hike in the month were seen in transport with 1.3 percent, followed by garment and footwear with 0.6 percent, household items (0.53 percent) and cigarettes and beverage (0.09 percent).
