The People's Committee of central Binh Dinh Province has proposed to the leaders of Quy Nhon City, the provincial capital, that they set up a project to supply electricity to Nhon Chau Island from the mainland.

The island, which has 484 households, now uses electricity from diesel generators. The city People's Committee funds the cost of diesel, which is more than VND1 billion each year. Residents have to pay VND1,000 per kWh. VND284 lower than that for average households.
