The construction of the southern central regional blood transfusion center in Binh Dinh was necessary for the preservation and timely supply of blood for provincial hospitals, fulfilling requirements in treatment in Binh Dinh and neighboring provinces, said Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, in a visit to Binh Dinh.

At present, there are 18 hospitals in Binh Dinh with more than 2,370 beds. They have, therefore, great demand for blood. But the blood taken from the humanitarian blood donation program and other sources is not enough.

Vice Chairwoman of Binh Dinh Province People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, has recently steered provincial Department of Health to plan the construction of the southern central regional blood transfusion center and submit for provincial People's Committee's approval.
