The representative Board of Binh Dinh Association of the Elderly on June 6 held the 66th anniversary on the occasion of Day for the Elderly (June 6,1941-June 6,2007). Also, at the ceremony the Board preliminarily summarized the Association’s the first-6-month activities.
Speaking at the ceremony, chief of the representative Board of Binh Dinh Association of the Elderly Nguyen Ngoc Anh reviewed the elders’ tradition of revolutionary struggle. According to the Association’s summary, thanks to the “old age-exemplary morals” movement launched at the beginning of 2007, the resolution of the 3rd Conference of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly has been brought to 157 Associations of the Elderly at communes, wards and towns in Binh Dinh. Many districts in the province have launched the “Study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals” campaign in which there have been 80% of members of the provincial Association of the Elderly responding. Also, in response to the “Old age-exemplary morals and offer suggestions for the country” movement launched by the Central Association of the Elderly, the elders in many localities have made contributions to develop home economics, and further the “poverty-alleviation” movement. They have set good examples in the “the whole people unite to build cultural lives at residential areas” campaign, in the “study encouragement” movement, and in the “reorganization of the Party and construction of the powerful Government” campaign.
According to the plan by the end of September, the Association will co-ordinate with the provincial Sports Department to hold the 8th sporting event for the Elderly in the province.
