Vice-chairwoman of Binh Dinh province People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh in the afternoon June 7 held a meeting with the coordinator of the Norwegian Red Cross in Asia-Pacific, Mr. Gedeon Tesfai at the provincial People’s Committee’s head office, on the occasion of his visit to Binh Dinh Red Cross.

At the meeting, vice-chairwoman Binh thanked the Norwegian Red Cross for its assistance through the program of supporting the capacity enhancement for Binh Dinh Red Cross and pledged the provincial People’s Committee would create best conditions for supporting projects to be better operated.

The Norwegian Red Cross sponsored the above-mentioned programme, which has been conducted from 2002 to 2008, with the total expenditure of VND 4.8 billion (more than US$ 25,000). Contents of the program include the training of the provincial Red Cross’s staff, the purchase of equipments and the establishment of the Red Cross’s volunteers Club.

Mr. Gideon Tesfai highly appreciated the effective operation of Binh Dinh Red Cross and said that Norwegian Red Cross might continue sponsoring Binh Dinh after the program ends by 2008.
