In the 2007 summer young volunteer campaign launched by Quy Nhon University’s Youth Union, there is a volunteer programme held in the Attapeu province of Laos.

In Quy Nhon University there are 260 Laos students coming from provinces of Champassak, Sekong and Attapeu. In accordance with the expectation of the representative board of Laos students in Quy Nhon University, the youth union planed to hold volunteer activities in Laos. “The aim of the programme is to tighten the friendship between Laos and Vietnam, creating a close relationship between Quy Nhon University and Laos’ provinces,” said the deputy secretary of Quy Nhon University’s youth union, Nguyen Khac Khanh.

Under the plan, the volunteer trip is to start on July 17 and end on July 24 with the participation of 17 volunteers and the head of the representative board of Laos students in Quy Nhon university, Khamphay working as an interpreter. In the Attapeu province, they will contact with six Vietnamese who are studying in the Attapeu province to join in the volunteer activities and work as interpreters. Besides, the representative board will also gather Laos students to conduct the “2007 summer volunteer – community connection” programme.

In accordance with the expectation of the Attapeu province’s Youth Union, volunteers will instruct the staff of the Attapeu’s Youth Union in the use of computer and provide the knowledge of the environment protection and community health to member of Laos’ Youth Union. Also in this trip, volunteers will visit and present gifts to two centers for disable children and orphans in Attapeu.
