The 9th session of Binh Dinh province People’s Council’s 10th term opened in the morning July 17 in Quy Nhon city. Leaders of the provincial Committee of the Party and provincial People’s Committee, representatives of provincial departments, bodies and agencies, and 51 of 61 provincial People’s Council’s members attended the session.

After Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong’s opening address, Standing Vice-Chairman of Binh Dinh province People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Thien, briefed the provincial social-economic situation in the first half of 2007 and tasks and solutions for the social-economic development in the next 6 months.
According to the report, Binh Dinh’s social-economic situation in the first half this year had positive moves. The economy continued developing, and its GDP had a year-on-year surge of 12%, in which agricultural, forest and aquatic products gained an increase of 1.7%, industry and construction surged by 28.3%, and services were up 14.7%. The economic structure moved with the increase of the industry and services. Social-cultural activities had positive moved and the people’s life in the province was improved. Public order was stable and the administration of authorities was effective.
Alongside this, there were some drawbacks and weaknesses that need solution for the conducting task in the next 6 months. In the afternoon, members discussed the report on the social-economic situation in the first six months and tasks and solutions for the next six months.
