Dao Thi Kieu Nhi, one of Binh Dinh’s students having the highest scores in 2007 entrance exams |
Many Binh Dinh’s students came first and second in this year’s university entrance exams, such as Nguyen Xuan Tung, a student of Tuy Phuoc No 2 high school, Dao Thi Kieu Nhi (Quy Nhon Quoc Hoc high school), Tran Thanh Binh (Le Quy Don gifted high school), Nguyen Tiep Khac (Nguyen Dieu high school-Tuy Phuoc district), and Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong (Quy Nhon Quoc Hoc high school), who came first when applying to Ho Chi Minh City-based universities; Huynh Van Loc (Phu Cat No 1 high school) and Tran Lam An (Le Quy Don gifted high school), who were the second in group B (chemistry, physics, biology).
In fact, most students who had the highest scores belong to north provinces and some Central provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, or Thanh Hoa. But it can be said that Binh Dinh is still one of some south-central provinces which had a largest number of students having the highest scores in the university entrance exams.
My colleague, an editor of Tuoi Tre newspaper, who was born in Hoai An district of Binh Dinh province, felt a great sense of pride as he talked about these students. “Binh Dinh is also a land of studying,” he said.
With achievements students gained in previous exams as well as this year’s entrance exams, and other stories about Nguyen Manh Huy who patiently took the entrance exams despite his so called “bad curriculum vitae”, or Nguyen Chi Hieu, who is known as “the world best student”, it can be concluded that Binh Dinh is not only a land of martial arts but a land of studying.
