Electric hospital beds expected to improve treatment, says Dr. Pham Ty

Binh Dinh General Hospital received 32 electric hospital beds in early November, using for emergency and serious cases. Director of Binh Dinh General Hospital, Dr. Pham Ty, talked about their function.

- Could you talk more about these electric hospital beds?

Mr. Don Legato working at Acclaim Therapeutics Company, doctor Ly Van Kim, and Nguyen Ngoc Luan in NYC aided the hospital with these hospital beds.

Electric hospital beds are now being used in Binh Dinh General Hospital

These include a system controlling the bed head and the bottom of the bed, helping patients move easily. The medical staff only need, for example, to press a button to lift up the bed head, in case a patient breathes with difficulty. When the patient’s heart needs more blood, the bottom of the bed can be automatically lifted.

- What are their advantages, comparing to mechanical hospital beds?

These have both functions, electrical and mechanical. When the power is cut, therefore, they can be still used manually.

What’s more, the medical staff can spend more time on taking care of patients rather than help them move manually. These electric hospital beds also help reduce the shortage of hospital beds.

They are expected to be more convenient, more comfortable, and more useful for emergency cases, helping improve the treatment.

- Is this the first time the Acclaim Therapeutics Ltd and some individuals aid Binh Dinh General Hospital?

This is the first time. Their aid is really valuable and useful for the hospital and patients. This is also an initial step bridging the cooperation among hospitals and foreign agencies.

This showed their concern for Binh Dinh General Hospital as well as Binh Dinh’s health sector. We will continue to develop more cooperation to take advantage of their support for our treatment in the future.
