VIE/03/P20 project proves effective

Binh Dinh provincial People’s Committee on November 24 held a meeting on the full review of project “Improving the quality and utilization of maternal and child health services in Binh Dinh”.

With the financial support of the New Zealand Government’s International Aid and Development Agency (NZAID) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the project was implemented throughout Binh Dinh in five years.

After five years, it was successfully implemented, contributing to the attainment of a higher quality of life for women and children in Binh Dinh, particularly for those who live in mountainous and remote areas, adolescents, and ethnic minority groups.

The project improved the capacity of medical system in maternal and child health care, strengthen the utilization of services, and make changes in the community’s awareness and behavior.

At the meeting, the New Zealand’s Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary in Vietnam, James Kember, emphasized that this is the New Zealand’s largest-scaled bilateral project in Vietnam.

He highly appreciated Binh Dinh’s commitment to the implementation of the project and made some recommendations aiming to maintain the sustainability of the project.

Provincial Vice Chairwoman cum head of the project Management Board Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh expressed her thanks the New Zealand Government, UNFPA, and Central bodies and ministries for their support.

She also asked for more support in projects on rural livelihood and reproductive health care for laborers.
