The Fred Hollows Foundation Vietnam held a seminar on reviewing the project of enhancing the capacity for blindness prevention through the community eye care program in the central region by 2005-2008 in Quy Nhon in two days, Nov. 27-28.

Representatives of health sectors of five provinces of Binh Dinh, Quang Tri, Phu Yen, Daklak, and Vinh Long attended the seminar.

In three years, FHF Vietnam has aided Binh Dinh with US$530,000 to build the infrastructure, provide the facilities for hospitals and health centers, offer the free eye surgery to nearly 4,000 poor patients, and train many surgeons.

At the seminar, participants shared experiences in the eye care in the community and talked about the community-based eye care strategy implemented by 2009-2012.
