Reports released by provincial Children Sponsoring Fund showed that there are more than 4,600 handicapped children in Binh Dinh.

Disadvantaged and handicapped children have been looked after by functional bodies and social organisations in the past few years. Many encouraging results have been achieved.

SAP-VN has aided Quy Nhon Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Center, and Binh Dinh Children Sponsoring Fund in checking and providing free operation for many handicapped children since 2000.

The medical check was provided for 255 handicapped children this year, including 60 for the surgery. Mother of a 13-year-old cerebral palsied girl said that her family was really poor, so she couldn’t afford the operation. She was very happy and grateful to doctors who had operated her daughter.

Also, other parents whose children were selected for the free surgery felt happy because they are too poor to afford the surgery.

SAP-VN presented 451 wheelchairs and equipment for practice to 1,027 handicapped children. SAP-VN has been in Vietnam since the 90s and conducted projects of aiding handicapped children in Binh Dinh since 2000. After 8 years, many have been provided with free medical check and surgery, said SAP-VN representative, Do Quang Hai.

SAP-VN also plans to cooperate and aid Binh Dinh in holding activities to help handicapped children in the coming time.
